I'm interested in knowing what the "other" is for those of you that selected it in the poll on the sidebar. I couldn't think of other options. If you would, take a moment and post a comment on the "other" way you heard about Kwajalein.
I believe that even if you are logged in you have the option of posting anonymously if you wish. Thank you in advance!

I lived on Kwaj '93-'98. My husband and I moved there as newlyweds. We found out about Kwaj from his childhood neighbors who did 3 tours and we're living there when we went out. I love finding Kwaj blogs and reliving the times vicariously through YOU! We have young children now (8 & 4), and I'd love to go back and experience it with them. I know the place has changed, and I can't really tell how much it has. And since we didn't have kids when we were out there, and I didn't really know families with kids, I'm hesitant now! Keep posting, I love hearing about Kwaj!!
Other: Lived there (as opposed to know someone who lives/has lived there)
I was a Kwaj Kid. My family lived on Kwaj twice. I read your blog because I love reading other peoples impression of the island and their lives. I'm also debating about applying for a position on the island. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to leave my 4 grandbabies, who currently live with me and their mom in my house.
While my primary choice in the poll was through a job search, it was a little bit of hearing about it from a couple of people some years ago. I knew one guy who was stationed on Kwaj in the 70s; didn't pay much attention about it back then. When I applied for the job about a year and a half ago, I sent it in half-expecting that I wouldn't even make the first cut after the job was posted. And here I am now...! :)
Hi Rebbeca
Other, just add a button for been or lived & worked there! I've done 2 tours out there working for GTE Goverment systems(1991-93),and Raytheon RSE(1995-97. I worked on Roi-namur as an electrician on the Krems radar facility team. I have to say living & working with the same people can be hard at times, but fun too. The stress level working out there was about .000000000001 of 1% there compared to where I work now back here in the Boston area. I was a roi-rat as they called us,and you live downtown(the big city) as we called Kwaj. Getting a seat on the plane was was hard at times. The life I thought was great, but it was very isloated for sure. I will keep up on your blog. Keep it up! It's a lifestyle that is hard to beat!
no mortgage, insurance, utility bills etc. The weather out there 88 day/80 at night_trade winds are alway's there except about now in June, but you know that. Take care
